So what made you and your friend wanna learn?

Well, uh, we were talking about ice cream. And how it's kinda important.

And I haven't had Sea Salt in a long time, but it's my favourite flavour.

So I figured it was about time that I figured it out.

[And he should probably learn how to cook in general.]

[Well, he came to the right place if he wanted to learn to cook, too.]

Seems a little cold for ice cream, don't you think?

[All of the ingredients are laid out on the counter when they arrive in the kitchen. Milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, whipping cream, and sea salt.]

I grabbed what I could find, but not sure if I'm missing anything.

Maybe. But, I think any time is good for ice cream, honestly.

[Seasons were never really a bother, now that he thinks about it.]

It usually turns like, a light blue colour? But I don't know how that happens.

Hmm, food colouring?

[She taps her chin and then rummages through the cupboards above the counter behind her.]

I've got plenty of them for cakes, if that would work? Otherwise, not sure how else they might've gotten their colour.

Yeah, I don't really know.

I think I'd settle for figuring out the flavour first. Before anything else.

It has to taste right.

[She agrees, which is why she slides over a copy of the recipe that she's written out for herself.]

This sound about right to you?

[Roxas reads over the recipe, scrutinizing it almost. Not that it makes much difference to him.]

I guess. I don't really know recipes but I'm gonna trust you on this.

Alright. Let's hope it works out.

So, which do you wanna take? We can split up the work to make it go faster.

[seasaltkeys]

Uh...I don't know.

What's easier?

That depends on what you're good at. I'd say boiling the milk, but why not go for the challenge?

[She taps her finger against step one, mixing the egg and sugar.]

I guess I can try that.

[He can take on a challenge.]

It's just mixing, right?

Yep, whisking the eggs and the sugar until they're pretty much all blended together.

[And of course, she pulls out a standard fare whisk.]

We don't have many electric things here yet, so you'll have to do it the old-fashioned way. Hope you've been doing some arm exercises.

I'll be fine. I can handle it.

[He's pretty sure, as he takes the whisk. Though. Tifa might have to show him the proper technique so that he's not just stirring with the tool.]

[She will in a moment, once she measures everything out and sets it all into their rightful places, but as she does that, pouring the sugar into the bowl, she looks at him.]

So, does your ship not have a cook? You're part of a crew, yeah?

[Not that she minds helping him at all, she is just a little surprised that he came all the way here if their crew had one.]

Not like, a designated one. We all kinda pitch in.

I think a few people know a few recipes.

[He's not one of them. It's a wonder they're still alive.]

[And after they get everything in and they've set to work—]

You should get someone in there to help, or at the very least someone there to teach you all how.

[How is a ship full of teenagers still alive?

But seeing the way that he's stirring now has her pausing.]

Oh, you should be using your wrist to stir the whisk. No movement in the arm, just the hand. We're not making bread, you don't need to work so hard.

I think people are trying to learn. But maybe we'll see if someone wants to come out.

We've made it this far.

[And maybe there's some pride in that. But likely horror, to an outside observer.]

[He pauses, trying to work out the motion.]

[But she'll move on for now, taking another whisk to demonstrate what she means.]

You're stirring with your arm, but you just wanna flick your wrist. Like this. You wanna try keeping your elbow still.

[Roxas looks a little offended.]

[No one's really volunteered for Regular Adult Supervision.

But he nods, doing his best to copy her motion. It's better, but not quite expert.]

[The rest of the ingredients go into the pot for Tifa to stir.]

If it helps, keep your elbow tucked against you and hold the bowl with your other hand. Might make the motion a little easier.

How do I know when it's mixed enough?

[starshower]

[The milk on the stove that she's working on is already starting to steam, smoke rising up, but it's not quite there yet as she stirs it.]

When it's got all the chunks out and is thick and pale, according to the recipe. So get that arm working until you start to feel it.

[There's a wry expression on his face that quickly turns focused. Who knew it would be this much work?]
