[ Shortly following the events of this thread, Lyria will sheepishly seek out Tifa and approach her when she finds the woman in her room. ]
Um, excuse me... [ The blue haired girl will call from the door as she pokes her head inside, but won't step in just yet. She's suddenly feeling a little nervous to even enter. ]
[It does seem a little strange for Lyria to be so sheepish, so as soon as she sees her poking her head inside, she feels worry prick in the back of her mind, and immediately puts down the laundry that she had been folding.]
Sure... Anything you want. [Famous last words.] Is everything okay?
[Ah—? She really did just get right into it, didn't she?
Tifa's face immediately burns and flushes a deep red, and a few of the flowers that hang from the vines around the bedroom suddenly POP, their petals bursting from the stems to flutter to the ground behind her as if some invisible force (Tifa) has made them explode.]
The flowers were certainly a surprise, and Lyria balks a little with a gasp. ]
I saw it on the journal when Beat was talking to Susato. I... I know I shouldn't have pried, but- [ She hesitates, her frown deepening. ] -Eustace got really mad for some reason and asked me to talk to you about it...
She's going to smack you into next Tuesday, only because he shirked this responsibility onto her and her alone, and her eyes stare daggers right through the door where she knows he's somewhere on the other side of.
Tifa isn't mad at Lyria, but there is a visible frown when she mentions Beat's name. Of all the people, she really should have guessed that it would be Beat. Talking about that sort of thing on the public journals. She had seen the post but had stopped looking at it when Eustace mentioned he would give Beat that warning that she would have otherwise. HE COULD HAVE AT LEAST USED BETTER WORDING??? "Getting laid", come on!!!
Clearly, she missed a lot.
Her face is flushing a deep, deep red now, and there's a heat that starts to bleed into the room, and it's clear by her expression that she's... working through this...]
Um... [How does she explain this!?!? She isn't about to leave Lyria hanging.] Do... you... um...
[Dear lord. Is this what it would be like to give That Talk to her own daughter one day? Or to Marlene? Perish the thought...]
[ The change in temperature was instantly noticeable, and Lyria lurches as it prickled against her skin. She was always fairly good at picking up on particular emotions, but the recent air surrounding Eustace and now Tifa… it was so difficult to understand.
She studies the other woman’s expression for a moment, frown deepening. ]
If… if this is something we shouldn’t talk about, it’s okay— [ She hesitates before taking a step forward, eyes darting between Tifa and the doorway.
[She feels bad now, seeing that look on Lyria's face, and she has no idea what to do!? Does she go over and hug her? Does she awkwardly guide her to sit down on the bed? Or does she just let her stay where she is and pray that Eustace doesn't somehow overhear them.
Actually, maybe it's better if she just lets Lyria do her own thing.
[ The request brings out further confusion but Lyria will obey with a nod. She turns to shut the door, letting her fingers linger on the doorknob before pulling away to face Tifa again.
This air... the air continues to feel so strange in here, yet despite the warmth in the room the girl begins to close the distance between the two of them to seek out the familiar warmth she was always use to and not this... strange and sudden sensation that surrounded them.
Now that the barrier of the door was there she was able to let down her guard enough to move closer and embrace Tifa. Squeezing and wrapping her small arms around her as tight as she could.
She doesn't choose to speak, not yet, but will simply lie her head against her stomach and squeeze a little tighter. ]
[Tifa is taken by surprise by the sudden and tight embrace, and her instincts have her own arms immediately wrapping around Lyria to return the gesture in equal kind. She can understand why she would be feeling tense, to no fault of her own—that's on Tifa for suddenly making all of this extremely awkward...
But the hug helps to ease some of that tension. Some of it... and only for the moment that it lasts before they'll be forced to let go.
Her expression does soften, and she gives another squeeze for good measure.]
I'm feeling a little nervous... but your hugs always help me feel stronger. [ She'll admit with a lopsided smile of sorts as she hangs on to the woman for that extra bit of support.
She wasn't sure where this conversation was going or how tense it would be... but to get that strong support at the beginning certainly helped her.
So finally, and with a small breath, Lyria will pull away to look up at Tifa. ]
Whatever you tell me, I'll listen! I'm prepared for anything!
[Does hearing that make this feel more or less awkward!? Tifa doesn't know...!!! And when Lyria pulls away, she can feel that flush of colour creeping right back into her cheeks as if it had never left. That, or it's only growing deeper.]
A-ah... I see...
[It's her turn to fidget a bit, and she slumps on the edge of the bed before she pats the seat next to her, reminding herself once more that she is going to aggressively wave a spatula at Eustace when she's done here while she tries to think of how best to explain it. This poor girl, and this poor woman... subjected to this...
And as soon as Lyria sits down, Tifa will take a deep breath.]
Well... you know... that um... how Eustace and I love each other... a lot...?
[WAIT, NO. Tifa gives a firm, rigorous shake of her head. BAD, BAD, TERRIBLE IDEA. She wants to help Lyria understand, not scar her for life.]
Or, um... I guess... when people love each other...? Not me and Eustace—Well, I mean—
I'm meaning more along the lines of... hugging and kissing someone...
[If she gets her drift, though Tifa's attempts at being subtle are likely not helping her understand this any more. She wouldn't blame Lyria if this only made it more confusing.]
[ Lyria was still new to her world and her surroundings, despite traveling with the Skyfarers for some time. She was always excited to discover more and learn new things, however... maybe this was something she could have left in the dark.
The confusion only continues to burn across her furrowed brows, but a small bit of realization does dawn on her face, as little as her understanding was. ]
Mmm... I think I understand. Hugging and kissing is something a lot of people don't do in public, right? Is that why you're embarrassed?
[Bless this girl's soul... It even gets a smile out of her, albeit a crooked one.]
Er... sort of.
[Granted, Tifa is a bit shy on the PDA front as it is, even if Eustace likes to tease her with it, but that's neither here nor there.]
It's a little bit more... physical than that? [She takes in another breath.] When you find someone that you like, you'll know. You, um... join... together...
[She can see Lyria scrunching her brow in confusion, and can practically feel it steeping into the air, and she has to pause to double check.]
You really want to know about this, do you? [An awkward laugh, and Tifa's head droops a little in Lyria's direction, almost bumping them together.] I'm... sorry. I'm not very good at explaining things.

Tifa... what does "getting laid" mean?

Getting laid doesn't mean you two don't love each other anymore, right!?

Shyly, Tifa reaches up to tuck hair behind both her ears.]
Um, n-no... the opposite, actually. Eustace and I love each other very, very much... so that's why we...
[And now she's talking so fast that she has to stop herself before she spills it all.]
Uh... Well... let me put it this way. If two people like each other a lot... sometimes... words aren't always enough to show each other that.
